I love this scripture, and I’ve been quoting it a lot lately when I speak. I believe it is true – we should feast upon the words of Christ. Often this scripture is used in reference to reading our scriptures – we should feast on the words in the scriptures themselves and never, ever get full but continue reading voraciously. We need to read the Ensign and the First Presidency messages and the general Conference talks HUNGRILY. I believe this. However, this scripture (2 Nephi 32:3) isn’t talking about scriptures. It’s talking about ANGELS. The first part of the scripture reads: Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, wherefore they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore I say unto you feast upon the words of Christ for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. When we’re baptized and confirmed members of the church and have the gift of the Holy Ghost, we have the ability to hear the messages the angels whisper by the power of the Holy Ghost. Often it’s a prompting to care for and reach out to a brother or sister who needs something we personally can offer. And we need to act! We need to feast on the promptings we feel and hear and act immediately because those angels care about their loved ones in this life, but there’s things they can’t do. They can’t mow lawns or bring casseroles, or give huge – so they search for a member of the Church who is actively feasting on their words and prompt them to do whatever needs to be done. I like to think of a prompting as just a transfer of information. The angel knows something and – BAM – we know it now, too.
